i just had a hearty lunch. as if my silhouette wasn't enough as a show off, here's a trivia about me: lunch is what i most look forward to everytime i come to the office. who's with me, raise your hands! and since we're talking about lunch, i'm gonna share the last lunch i had in the US. I discussed it in my past posts but i want to go into details.
so, i'm having my last lunch together with the team. that's their treat for me for making it through the 5 months of training/work without going nuts. that alone, is an achievement! after the lunch, the manager then made a short speech of whatnots and a very cliche question:
manager: what was the best thing you ever did here in the US?
adlib: now, there are tons of things that i could consider as best! clue: people, sceneries, inter-state trips, work... WORK?! i don't like ambush interviews, specially when i cannot use my mother's tongue to answer it. have i known it earlier that there's this speech, i could have composed a lengthy essay of thank you's and appreciation. so, the only word that popped out of my brain was the last activity we had, so i said:
me: eating!?
adlib: yuh, the exclamation point and the question mark are very important to end that sentence.. coz i said it like it is the only reason i came to their country. i'm not a fan of cyber acronyms but WTF???
then i forget to notice what everyone's reactions coz i'm busy contemplating of how much damage my answer would cause to my well-being! then, as if the wreck of my first answer wasn't enough, and in my attempt to save me from humiliation, which on every account, i failed to do so... i added...
me: oh, should have i said work?!
adlib: and that was it. i created a irrevocable havoc. i interchanged the question mark and exclamation point on purpose coz at that time, i was asking first then exclaim! and again, WTF?!!
i heard a collective laugh from the other 10 people in the room. oh mother, what is wrong with me?
